On August 5-6, 2024, a meeting of the Advisory Group on Criminal Investigations Regarding Human Trafficking was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. Police lieutenant colonel Vamig Namandzade, Chief Operations Commissioner of the Division of Information Assurance and Analytical Work of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, participated in the meeting, along with Jasarat Azizov, Administrative Prosecutor of the General's Prosecutor Office.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cross-border cooperation in criminal investigations related to human trafficking. The event was attended by representatives of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime’s Regional Office for Central Asia (UNODC ROCA) and officials from Central Asian states.
During the meeting, a representative from UNODC ROCA delivered the opening speech, outlining the key areas for discussion, introducing the participants, detailing the tasks ahead, and outlining the expected outcomes. He also provided extensive information on the role of law enforcement agencies in combating transnational crime and conducting cross-border investigations.
Following the opening remarks, representatives from the participating countries shared their national experiences in combating human trafficking.
Representatives of Azerbaijan then emphasized the country’s anti-trafficking strategy, focusing on improvements to legal and institutional frameworks, preventive measures, prosecution of traffickers, and efforts to rehabilitate and protect victims of human trafficking.
At the conclusion of the event, the moderators praised Azerbaijan’s efforts in combating human trafficking, emphasizing the effectiveness of its strategies.
The meeting was conducted in a cordial and professional atmosphere.
