On the request of the US Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan William Solley Political Affairs Officer, Asif Nawaz Economic Specialist, Nigar Huseynova Political Affairs Specialist of the US Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as Julia Reinitz Seniour International Relations Officer of Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking of the Bureau of International Labor Affairs of the US Department of Labor and Rachel Raba Seniour Research Coordinator of Research and Policy Division, Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking of the Bureau of International Labor Affairs of the US Department of Labor have been accepted in the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Administration and officers of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Main Public Security Department, as well as International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan have attended at this meeting and during meeting they had discussed the work carried out till today in the country in the fight against human trafficking and the prospects for future cooperation.
According to the agenda, it was mentioned that only 23 out of 971 trafficking victims identified in 2005 were identified as a child victims of trafficking, in other words 2.4 percent were children, forced child labor, and exposure of children to sexual exploitation is in the minimum level and is not typical for Azerbaijan.
The purposeful activities led by national legislation have excluded the spread of these illegal acts in our country and in general it was emphasized that international recommendations are always kept in mind, and all questions of the guests have been answered with reasonable arguments.
The meeting was held in a warm and business atmosphere.
At the end of the visit, the US Embassy delegation thanked the organizers for the meeting, fruitful discussions and provided information.
