On June 12, 2019, the International Organization for Migration held a conference on the completion of the project "Strengthening the National Capacity to Combat Human Trafficking in Azerbaijan" (ENCT).

The event was attended by officials from the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Foreign Affairs, the Justice Academy, the State Migration Service, and other government agencies, civil society representatives and international partners.

At the conference, Heydar Heydarov, Chief of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that the priority areas of the project fully met the objectives of the 3rd National Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Persons.

It was noted that the successful implementation of all these activities in the framework of the international cooperation in the Republic of Azerbaijan is a sign of the high attention paid to the fight against trafficking in our country.

Head of the UN Mission in Azerbaijan, Vladimir Gjorgjiev, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Gulam Isaqzai, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas, the Azerbaijani Government, and its international partners, appreciating the project's support and cooperation.

During the conference, the project participants were informed of the project activities in Baku and regions where relevant government agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted training and visits to foreign countries, as well as the relevant agencies were able to share their knowledge and skills in combating human trafficking at the local and international levels and it was specially mentioned that the purpose of the project is contributing to the capacity building of the Government of Azerbaijan in combating trafficking in human beings.
