A meeting was held at the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs with representatives of the Coalition of NGOs against Trafficking in Human Beings.
The event was attended by the Chairperson of “Clean World: Assistance to Women” Public Union, Mehriban Zeynalova; the Chairperson of “Women of the 21st Century” Public Union, Mahira Amirhuseynova; the Chairperson of “Family World: Legal Assistance to Families” Public Union, Gulaya Safarova; the Chairperson of “Support to Police” Public Union, Shamsaddin Aliyev; the Chairperson of “Tamas” Regional Development Public Union, Sudaba Mammədova; the Chairperson of “Priority – Socio-Economic Research” Public Union, Zaur Ibrahimov; and the Chairperson of “Legal-Social Assistance and Awareness-Raising” Public Union, Fariz Akbarov.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the Coalition of NGOs against Trafficking in Human Beings, Mehriban Zeynalova, provided information on the proposals prepared by the Coalition’s initiative group.
Representatives of the Main Department noted that certain issues reflected in the proposals were of current relevance, and some were already incorporated into the National Action Plan on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025–2030.
The meeting also addressed the increasing incidence of trafficking crimes conducted online, including the recruitment of victims through social networks and the use of information technologies in perpetrating such crimes. The discussion underscored the necessity of amending relevant normative legal acts to ensure their adequacy in responding to emerging threats and challenges in the digital environment. The continued refinement and future consideration of the submitted proposals were emphasized.
The NGO representatives expressed their appreciation for the continued attention and support provided to their activities by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on strengthening cooperation in combating trafficking in human beings, addressing existing challenges, and coordinating further measures to enhance preventive, investigative, and support efforts.
