Officers of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an operation at a livestock farm in the Aghstafa District. During the operation, 49-year-old E. Aliyev, a resident of the Qazakh District, was detained on suspicion of subjecting an individual to forced labour.

A criminal case was Initiated under Article 144-2.1 (Forced Labour) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Following the completion of the investigation, the case was submitted to the competent court for adjudication.

The court found E. Aliyev guilty of compelling the victim to perform forced labour through intimidation, the use of force, and threats of force, and of unlawfully restricting the victim’s liberty beyond the circumstances specified by law. He was sentenced to six years of imprisonment.
