The Latest Session of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention was Held

From March 4 to 6, 2025, the 44th meeting of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (commonly referred to as the Lanzarote Committee) was convened in Strasbourg, France.
The session was attended by representatives from 48 States Parties that have ratified the aforementioned Council of Europe Convention.
The delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan included the Head of Division of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, alongside the Head of the Secretariat of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
At the meeting, the Secretariat presented a detailed report compiled from information submitted by the participating States in response to a questionnaire on the implementation of the Convention within their national legal frameworks and the fulfillment of their treaty obligations. Key findings and significant issues outlined in the report were communicated to the attendees. Subsequently, tailored recommendations based on the report’s findings were issued to each State and examined through individual discussions.
Our representatives expressed the official position concerning the observations and recommendations related to Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, a representative from the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), operating under the auspices of the Council of Europe, delivered a presentation on the group’s recent activities addressing the prevention of sexual violence and exploitation against children.
The Committee also reviewed and discussed the agenda for the forthcoming Ministerial Conference scheduled for June 30 – July 1, 2025, as well as the agenda for the Committee’s next session planned for July 2–4, 2025.
