On September 10-11, 2024, the 2nd International Conference on Migrant Smuggling took place in Strasbourg, jointly organized by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General on Migration and Refugees of the Council of Europe and the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC).
Representatives from the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and the Main Passport, Registration, and Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the conference.
At the event, presentations focused on international normative legal acts, conventions, and legislation related to migrant smuggling, as well as issues concerning the illegal border crossings of migrants. Furthermore, discussions covered the experiences of member states of the Council of Europe, highlighting key needs and practical approaches in the fight against migrant smuggling.
