On August 23, 2024, a training session was conducted for employees of the State Migration Service and the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the topics of "Combating Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration, Preventing Migrant Smuggling, and Detecting Forged Documents." Vamig Namandzade, a representative of the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, served as the trainer, with Sarkhan Aghamirov and Kamil Abdullayev participating as attendees.
During the training, police lieutenant colonel Vamig Namandzade provided a detailed overview of the strategies and the normative legal framework of the Republic of Azerbaijan in combating human trafficking. He elaborated on the various forms and methods of exploitation, preventive measures, and the legal and organizational foundations of the fight against human trafficking. Additionally, comprehensive information was presented on the legal status, protection, and assistance mechanisms for victims of human trafficking, as well as the potential risks for migrants to become victims of such crimes.
The session was attended by eight employees from the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its subordinate institutions, alongside two employees from the State Border Service.
The training generated significant interest among participants. A large number of questions were posed, which were thoroughly addressed by Vamig Namandzade.
In addition, an expert from the International Organization for Migration joined the event via video conference and delivered a presentation on "Combating Migrant Smuggling." The expert's queries were addressed by Vamig Namandzade, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
