The Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs uncovered that Elnara Mammadova, a resident of Lankaran district, transported female citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Nazilli, Turkey, where they were subjected to sexual exploitation.

The investigation into the criminal case, initiated under Articles 144-1.2.1, 144-1.2.2, 144-1.2.4-1, 144-1.2.5, and 144-3.4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has concluded. The case was referred to the Baku Grave Crimes Court for adjudication. Elnara Mammadova was found guilty under the aforementioned articles and was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months of imprisonment. However, due to the fact that she has a minor child under her care, the punishment was postponed until the child reaches the age of majority, in accordance with Article 79.1 of the Criminal Code.
